چکیده

We interpret observed features of the black hole candidate GRS1915+105 in the light of the advective flow paradigm. The light curve of this black hole is seen to be of four classes, Soft, Hard, Semi-Soft and Intermediate. Each class can display more than one type of light curve making altogether twelve or more types of light curves. In each type, the mode of accretion may be one or more of three types: which we identify as HW (hard state with winds), CC (Compton cooling) and EA (enhanced accretion) respectively. Apart from these three states there are two more fundamental states in a black hole accretion which are soft and hard states. We also find that winds and outflows could soften spectra in hard states and the enhanced accretion could harden the soft states. These are observed in the spectra of GRS 1915+105. Generally, we find that advective flow paradigm can satisfactorily explain all the features of the enigmatic black hole GRS 1915+105.

GRS 1915 + 105 : The brightest Galactic black hole

We compare the evolution of spectral shape with luminosity in GRS 1915+105 with that of ‘normal’ black holes. The pathological time variability of GRS 1915+105 does not indicate that it belongs in a different class to all the other objects. At comparable fraction of Eddington luminosity its spectra and (more importantly) time variability behaviour are similar to that seen in the ‘normal’ black ...

The Faint “heartbeats” of Igr J17091–3624: an Exceptional Black-hole Candidate

We report on the first 180 days of RXTE observations of the outburst of the black hole candidate IGR J17091–3624. This source exhibits a broad variety of complex light curve patterns including periods of strong flares alternating with quiet intervals. Similar patterns in the X-ray light curves have been seen in the (up to now) unique black hole system GRS 1915+105. In the context of the variabi...

Anti-correlated Hard X-ray Time Lag in Grs 1915+105: Evidence for a Truncated Accretion Disc

Multi-wavelength observations of Galactic black hole candidate sources indicate a close connection between the accretion disk emission and the jet emission. The recent discovery of an anti-correlated time lag between the soft and hard X-rays in Cygnus X-3 (Choudhury & Rao 2004) constrains the geometric picture of the diskjet connection into a truncated accretion disk, the truncation radius bein...

ISO far - IR spectroscopy of the black hole candidate GRS 1915 + 105 ?

We have observed the black hole candidate and Galactic superluminal source GRS 1915+105 with ISO LWS and SWS in March 1996 and March 1997 when the source was at fairly low X-ray and radio flux levels. If the source is associated with a dense molecular cloud, then corresponding far-IR continuum and line fluxes should be easily detectable and the data should constrain models for accretion from IS...

Fast aperiodic variability in the black hole binary GRS 1915+105: the timing signature of relativistic ejection events

We present X-ray observations of the Black-Hole Binary GRS 1915+105 made with the RXTE (Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer). We concentrated on timing analysis of the strong variability focusing on its aperiodic variability on short (<1s) time scales. In the power density spectra, we found a feature which is seen in many transient systems, but until now was not detected in GRS 1915+105 due to its elus...
